Mark Hayward has been appointed as President of the NAEA, taking over the role from Wendy Evans-Scott, who has served in the position for the past year. Outgoing ARLA President Tim Hyatt and acting Chair of the NFoPP Board is replaced by Jane Ingram as ARLA President.

In addition, three new roles are being created at Arbon House, the group’s head office: Managing Director of NAEA, Managing Director of ARLA, and Managing Director of Resource (overseeing operations at Arbon House). Ian Potter will take the role of Managing Director of ARLA, effective immediately, while the recruitment process has begun for the remaining posts.

On the changes, acting chief executive Mark Hayward, said:

“The Board felt that now would be a good time to review the group’s operation framework. The creation of new roles at Arbon House will help us focus more on promoting the core brands and on driving value to the membership base.

“In terms of my own appointment as President of NAEA, I’m delighted to follow Wendy and build on her hard work of the past 12 months. Our members are facing very challenging times indeed and I intend to be a champion for the industry, and campaign for the things that matter to NAEA members. I’ll be setting a new tone in our conversations with government, highlighting the impact that their unfair stamp duty policy is having in particular on first time buyers.”

Incoming ARLA President Jane Ingram said:

“I’ve worked in lettings for 21 years and I know that the industry is in need of a champion now more than ever. In the coming months, I will be meeting with ARLA members across the country. I will also be picking up where Tim left off, focusing on improving communication between Arbon House and  our many members , helping to promote the importance of using a professional lettings agent.”

Ian Potter said:

“The importance of the Private Rented Sector to the UK property market cannot be underestimated. In my new role at ARLA I plan to ensure we can continue to effectively represent our member base whilst driving up professional standards within the lettings industry.”
