Where are the most and least profitable cities to start an Airbnb business?

With thousands of Brits listing their homes on Airbnb, or investing in property with the intention of starting an Airbnb business, a study by Crafted Beds has revealed the best locations and interior styles to earn a maximum profit.

Investigating Airbnbs across the UK, Newcastle came out on top as being the location charging the most per-night for a stay in an Airbnb, at an average of £122 per night.

The top 5 also included Leeds (£121.60), York (£120), Exeter (£118.60) and Cambridge (£105.60).

The least profitable city to start an Airbnb business is in Edinburgh, charging an average of £64.40 per night, followed by Aberdeen (£66.20) and Birmingham (£76.20).

Looking at interior design styles across UK Airbnbs, the study also revealed that 'Cottagecore' is the most profitable style, charging an average of £104.95 per night. Coastal, Art Deco, and Vintage follow this, all earning above £96 per night.

The interior style earning the least is Country, only earning an average of £82 per night, followed by Industrial at £83.75 per night.

So if you’re looking to start generating passive income from an Airbnb business, your best bet is to create a dream Cottagecore location in Newcastle, but avoid a country home in Edinburgh.
