The Guild of Property Professionals is helping its members prepare for the next stage of the Renters' Rights Act by hosting a dedicated webinar on phase two of the legislation.
With further reforms due later this year, the session will equip agents with the latest guidance they need to remain compliant and confidently advise their landlord clients.
Phase One of the Renters' Rights Act came into effect on 1 May and has already reshaped the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, laying the foundations for a more transparent and accountable private rented sector.
That first phase introduced significant changes, including the conversion of assured shorthold tenancies into assured periodic tenancies with no fixed end date, the abolition of Section 21 'no-fault' evictions, and the implementation of reformed grounds for possession, among a range of other measures.
Attention is now turning to phase two, which is due to be introduced later this year. This next stage will likely see the gradual rollout of a new database for the private rented sector, implemented regionally.
Phase two introduces fewer immediate operational changes than the first phase, but agents still need to understand the new requirements and be prepared to guide landlords through the evolving regulatory landscape.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting members, the Guild will host a webinar on Thursday 30 July, led by Paul Offley, compliance officer at the Guild. The session will:
- provide the latest updates on phase two
- explain what agents need to know ahead of its implementation
- answer members' questions
- continue supporting agents as they navigate the changes introduced under Phase One
