What's more, they will also be entitled to claim up to an additional £100 towards the cost of the EPC or Green Deal assessment, to be completed before and/or after installation. Only one voucher can be applied for per property.

The Energy Saving Trust are managing the scheme and full details be found on its website, though all potential applicants should contact the advice centre on 0800 512 012 to be issued a voucher.

What are the eligibility requirements?

The eligibility criteria are:

Work on the installation has not commenced before the date on which the rebate voucher is issued;

You must be undertaking work that is recommended in either their Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or Green Deal assessment;

Where your EPC or Green Deal assessment recommends to install loft insulation and/or cavity wall insulation you must:

-have already installed these measures before applying for a voucher for other measures,
-use the cash back voucher to install these measures or
-use the cash back voucher to install these measures alongside any other measures you want to install.

In some cases where the EPC recommends cavity wall insulation and/or loft insulation but you can demonstrate (by providing an installer technical survey or similar) that the insulation is impractical to implement (e.g. non-standard cavities) we may consider an application for funding other measures.

You must gain a new EPC for your property once the measure(s) has been installed.

The work does not cover a boiler replacement (unless you are a private sector landlord who can apply for a boiler replacement). This work is supported via the Boiler Scrappage Scheme. Please note however that if you are replacing an electric heating system with a Band A condensing gas boiler then you can apply to this cash back scheme.

-The work does not cover the installation of renewable technologies.

-The work does not cover a measure that is not fixed to the property e.g. appliances or energy efficient light bulbs (other than LED light bulbs and hot water tank jackets which are eligible in some cases).

-You cannot combine the cash back rebate with other grant support from the Scottish or UK Government, local authority e.g. UHIS or where the measure has been fully funded under CERT or ECO.

-You must be the occupier or private landlord of the residential property (in Scotland) in which the new measure will be installed.

-If you are a private landlord you must be registered with the relevant local authority.

-If you are a tenant you must confirm that you have the written consent of your landlord prior to installation.

-You must ensure receipt of the rebate will not result in you receiving illegal State aid.
