Allsop has released its first dedicated commercial auction catalogue for 2026, offering a broad mix of investment and redevelopment opportunities. The February catalogue features 84 lots ranging from £45,000 to £4m, with 24 lots guided at or above £1m.
The largest lot is the Castle Dene Shopping Centre in Peterlee, County Durham (lot 33), which is guided at £4m+. The centre forms the majority of the town centre and extends to 234,687 sq ft with current tenants including B&M, Boots, New Look and Argos, producing a total gross rental income of £1,248,299 per annum. Approximately 125,000 sq ft of accommodation is currently vacant, offering significant potential for future income generation or repurposing.
"This is a unique and rare opportunity to purchase what is effectively the majority of the town centre," said Jonathan Wright, the partner at Allsop responsible for selling Castle Dene Shopping Centre.
"The scheme is anchored by a number of destination retailers, whilst also providing plenty of scope for asset management. Whether it is providing space for community uses or repurposing parts to alternative uses such as residential, it provides the buyer with an exciting opportunity to engage with the local community and help shape the future of the town itself."
The auction includes a wide range of commercial and mixed-use properties located across the UK. More than a third (43%) are located in London and the South East, while more than two-thirds (71%) have some element of retail use.
Sellers include Columbia Threadneedle, Farmfoods, London Metric, Olim, Praxis Real Estate Management and Runnymede Borough Council, alongside administrators, councils, liquidators, pension funds, receivers, trustees and various private investors.
"We are excited to have released our first dedicated commercial auction catalogue of 2026, which offers our usual wide range of investment opportunities throughout the UK," said Alex Neil, commercial auction partner at Allsop.
"There is a sense of optimism in the private investor-led auction market as we start the year, and our buyers regularly reiterate their desire to continue purchasing throughout 2026. We have already seen healthy interest since the catalogue was released and anticipate competitive bidding at auction on 11th February."
Allsop's next commercial auction will be live-streamed on Wednesday, 11th February.
